Deadly Dads

Empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men to be strong and deadly dads.

Deadly Dads is a service for men whose partners are birthing their bub through the Birthing in Our Community service (BiOC).

Our service provides one-to-one support for dads who may be experiencing challenges in areas that include:

  • emotional health and wellbeing
  • father/child relationships
  • parenting skills
  • transitioning into fatherhood
  • understanding your family dynamics

Dads can also come along to small group workshops and social gatherings where knowledge is shared and positive and supportive relationships are built.

Supporting your partner’s journey during pregnancy, birth, and beyond promotes positive outcomes for the whole family.

What to expect at a Deadly Dads workshop?

Deadly Dads offers Labour, Birth and Beyond; an antenatal (pregnancy to birth) workshop to support new dads on their journey to fatherhood.

It’s a chance for expectant dads to ask questions and get prepared for the experience of labour and birthing. Dads will also build awareness of what becoming a dad and a parent can look like, and ways to get the best out of this new experience.

Our next antenatal workshops are advertised on the BiOC Facebook page. They run four times a year. If you’re interested in attending, sing out to our dad support worker on:

Phone: 0438 092 759

Who can access Deadly Dads?

One-to-one support and Deadly Dads workshops are available to dads who have a partner enrolled in BiOC.

Our monthly social catch ups are available to all dads.

Monthly social catchups

BiOC North runs monthly social catch ups for dads in the Morten region! It’s an opportunity for dads to connect with other dads and build supportive and encouraging relationships in a relaxed setting.

Visit the BiOC Facebook page for the dates, times and locations.
Contact 1800 MY BiOC (1800 694 63) for details about the next catch up.
