Our story

Moreton ATSICHS has grown to deliver culturally safe, comprehensive primary health care, along with Family Health and Wellbeing programs, across six (6) primary health care clinics to more than 10,000 regular Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island clients.  

Moreton ATSICHS continues to grow and evolve in response to our community, and that requires an ongoing journey of change. Moreton ATSICHS is at a pivotal point to undertake a transformation journey to expand our services and program to support Family Health and Wellbeing as well as Mental Health Our Way. 

In 2025, Moreton ATSICHS continues as is a service delivery arm and a registered business name of IUIH.

Our history

2011 

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) secured funding from Queensland Health to establish a clinic in partnership with a private GP clinic located behind the Morayfield Shopping Centre.  

The demand for services was so significant that the clinic was relocated to a shared premises in North Lakes with the Closing the Gap team.  

2012

Moreton ATSICHS’ first standalone clinic opened at 10 Walkers Street, Morayfield in December. 

2013

2013 was a big year! We opened two new clinics at: 

2015

Our fourth clinic at 5 James Street, Caboolture, was opened in September.  

2017

Our clinic in Caboolture closed due to a fire. During the rebuild, the Morayfield team provided essential support for Caboolture’s staff and clients.  

2019

Our fifth clinic opened at 322 Oxley Street, Margate.

The Caboolture clinic reopened at 5 James Street. 

2024

The Caboolture clinic moved to a new premises at 21 King Street in March.   

The original clinic at 5 James Street was renamed the Caboolture Specialist Hub to deliver a range of services, including some in partnership with Metro North Health.

We opened our very first Family Wellbeing Hub in Redcliffe in June. 

In December, Strathpine moved to a new purpose-built location at 496-498 Gympie Road.  

2025

Staying Deadly | headspace Deception Bay opened. 

Dakabin Health and Wellbeing Hub begins development and is expected to open in 2028.

Moreton ATSICHS acknowledges the Gubbi Gubbi, Turrbal, and Jinibara people as the Traditional Custodians of the lands, seas, and waterways where we work.  We pay respect to Elders past and present.

This website contains images, names, and voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have passed away. With permission from their families, we have continued to use their images to acknowledge and honour their contributions in making our communities healthy and strong.
